Our Services
pre-loading survey
Cargo Pre-loading survey should be performed in order to protect interests of parties involved in transport operations of determined cargo (steel products, agri, project cargo, etc.) to avoid possible allegations at the moment of delivery of the cargo.
Pre-loading survey consist in verification of condition of the cargo before loading operations started with a focus on determination of all damages, oxidation and contamination. Additionally, Cargo Holds must be checked for suitability in transporting nominated cargo.
We are able to provide you with next services pre-loading survey includes:
1. Cargo:
- Determination of condition of the cargo before loading operations started (mechanical damages, surface appearance, packing);
- Continuous supervision of cargo operations;
- Verification of the level of oxidation (on steel products);
- Silver Nitrate test in order to determine chlorides;
- Tally
2. Vessel:
- Condition of Cargo hold before loading (cleanliness, bilges, odors,
salinity, piping, etc.)
- Hatch covers (packing, coamings, compression bars, coaming drains, etc.)
- Hold ventilation system
Taking in account our huge experience making pre-loading surveys of metal products and project cargo we can assure that final report of our inspections will give you possibility to see actual situation of condition of the cargo before cargo operations started.
dry bulk cargo
We are capable to offer you next type of inspections:
- Draft survey
- Sampling
- Sealing of the holds
- Continuous supervision and monitoring of temperature and condition of the cargo
- Weight control on weighbridge.
- Damage survey
“A Draft survey is a calculation of the weight of cargo loaded or unloaded to or from a ship from measurements of changes in its displacement.”

Everyone involved into international and local trading of bulk cargo transported by merchant vessels know and understand importance of calculation of cargo on board the vessel.
Draft survey - should be performed in order to protect interests of the shipper, owner, receiver or charterer showing independent estimation of quantity of the cargo which can be determined as result received from difference between displacement of the vessel on initial and final inspection taking in account difference of ships constant, ballast, stores, etc.
In order to have reasonable and independent result of quantity determination all actions starting from checking of draft marks, sounding of ballast tanks till calculations are conducted in presence of Ship Cargo Officer and marine surveyor (in some cases different marine suveyors). All figures are discussed and proved.
If you are looking for experienced draft surveyor who is able to give you independent result of quantity of cargo discharged or loaded do not hesitate to contact us.
damage survey
Damage survey consist in investigation of the reason of damage, evaluation of loss, determination of possible solutions, issue of final report.
Had been working with contaminations of liquid cargo, damages to fuel tanks with next contamination of the cargo, hatch covers damages, investigation of ignition, injury of stevedores/seamens, shifting of the cargo and more.
LOADING / DISCHARGING SURPERVISION
Supervision of cargo operations should be provided in order to assist Chief Officer during cargo operations (liquid cargo, bulk cargo, general cargo).
Especially continuos supervision is important in case of loading/ discharging operations of valuable cargo (project cargo, yachts) because in the event of an incident, surveyor will be able to undertake an immediate investigation and determine extent of the damage.
We have experience providing supervision of cargo operations of Project cargo (bridge parts, motors, boilers, trucks), yachts, liquid cargo (delays, temperature, sampling), general cargo (stowage, damages, tally, marking), bulk cargo (sampling, temperature, moisture, contamination).
sampling of the cargo
Sampling of the cargo is one of the most important steps in analysis because representing sample will give information of actual condition of the cargo to the client.
We are able to provide you with above service showing our best knowledge in this area. We have been working with wide list of cargoes sampled as from vessels holds/tanks so from terminal conveyer lines/ warehouses/ silos.
MK- survey can offer you sampling of liquid cargo, bulk cargo, perishable cargo, general cargo (parts of metal products). Furthermore we can arrange analysis of samples with independent laboratories or send samples to any laboratory you are interested in.
On/Off-hire bunker and condition survey
Before getting to the charter it should be performed On-hire survey in order to find out condition of the holds, hatches, gear, etc. and to determine exact quantity of bunker on board.
Off-hire should be performed once vessel finishes charter period in order to determine condition of holds, hatches, gear, etc. and to determine exact quantity of bunker on board.
Above two surveys should be performed to prevent possible allegations of interested parties according to condition of the vessel and quantity of the bunker.
We have been working both as representatives of chartering companies so for Owners. Will be glad to help you determine exact condition of the vessel in this special situation.
inventory audits
Inventory is periodical procedure for all warehouses with the aim of finding exact quantity of stocks.
We are opened to provide above inspection with next explanation of each discrepancy.
container inspections
Every year quantity of cargo transported by containers is increasing. Cargo operations with containers are going faster due to modernisation of port facilities. Nowadays container ships seams to be like big busses with difference of several hours between each ports.
Above described speed affetcs on container condition due to hits, bents and rough handling which we can see in some terminal all over the world.
Only container in good condition can give nominated protection from water ingress.
We can offer you our services for inspection of containers and check damages, sealing, smell, remainings of previous cargo, integrity of container construction, serial number,provide continuous supervision of cargo operations, etc.
liquid cargo inspection
Taking in account huge amount of liquid cargo transported by tankers from one port to enother there is compulsory “To Do List” which consists of:
· Sampling
· Ullaging
· Continuous supervision
· Assessment during loading/discharging
· Intervention in case of contamination.
All above steps must be done correctly in order to provide correct information about quantity and condition of the cargo.
Mk-survey can provide liquid cargo inspection to find out quantity of cargo (ullages, sounding, temperature, corrections), sampling, continuous supervision of cargo operations, empty tank inspection, investigation of contamination, etc.
If you need experienced surveyor in the field of liquid cargo inspections do not hesitate to Contact Us.
HATCH COVER CONDITION INSPECTION
Hatch covers are an essential component of a vessel, as they protect the cargo from external elements such as water, wind, and dust. Their proper functioning is crucial for the safety and operation of the vessel, as a damaged or malfunctioning hatch cover can lead to flooding of the hold, which can ultimately result in the drowning of the vessel.
In addition hatch covers are also responsible in protection of the cargo from wetting and ensuring that the hold remains dry and free of moisture, which can cause damage to the cargo and result in significant financial losses for the ship owner.
The condition of hatch covers is just as important as the condition of the engine, hull, and propulsion system, as they all play a critical role in the safe operation of the vessel and safe delivery of the cargo. This is why regular inspections and maintenance of hatch covers is crucial, as it can help to identify and address any issues before they become a major problem.
